Carey Chapel Crossing

Carey Chapel Crossing is an affordable housing subdivision located at the intersection of Carey Chapel Road and Vicksboro Road. First Home Builders, Inc. is the lead member of a team of developers that are responsible for site design, construction, and sales of the 150 lot subdivision.

Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunity, Inc. and the Tar Heel Regional Community Development Corporation are also partners providing sales, technical assistance, and down payment assistance, in some cases, for those clients that qualify.

The subdivision is next the Aycock Elementary School and the city recreation complex which includes five baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts, indoor gymnasium facilities with basketball courts, weight-training, meeting rooms, showers and lockers, and an indoor swimming pool. The recreation complex has minimal membership charges that are affordable to most Vance County residents.

Houses generally range from 1000 to 1400 square feet of heated space. All are built to satisfy an energy standard set by Advanced Energy, a Non-profit corporation that helps utility, industrial and residential customers improve the return on their energy investment. Its SystemVision program is proven to save at least 15 percent more in energy use and costs than standard code-built homes.

Each home has a paved driveway with parking for two vehicles and is landscaped with plants that do well in this climate area. Homes are built within about 90-100 days and ready for occupancy within that timeframe. Homes are inspected by the Vance County Code Enforcement Department and SystemVision personnel. Heating and cooling bills are guaranteed for two years.
